Year: 20th Century

Location discovered: 1st Street Basin

History: Hundreds of circuit boards were discarded in the First Street Basin, enough to create its own sediment layer. Typical of the kind of highly toxic industrial waste that was discarded into the Gowanus Canal over the years. Spearheaded by Eymund Diegel the Gowanus Dredgers have been pulling the circuit boards out of the muck of the canal.
